An exhibition of photography to explore and celebrate Gypsy and Traveller culture, co-curated with the communities in Bradford and the surrounding districts

One of two images selected by Historic England to be part of their Picturing High Streets exhibition. The image was also featured alongside five others from my series ‘After Dark’ in the Picturing Bradford outdoor exhibition in 2023,

As part of the partnership between Bradford Unesco City of Film and Not Just Hockney, I will be paired with Bradford born artist John Sowden (1838-1926) and a collection of our images will be shown throughout June & July 2023 on Bradford’s Big Screen in City Park.

Stories of the people from this inner city area of Bradford, and all the good things they do, big and small, that make this place what it is.
It’s an attempt to re-paint the picture of Bradford that many people may have in their heads.
It’s a story about people from diverse and different backgrounds, and their lives together, under one sky.
April 2022 onwards..
The Streets Ahead Project, in collaboration with Trapezium Arts, was designed to help regenerate the high streets of South Bradford by installing art work in vacant shop windows. A modern interpretation of ‘Tronies’ these large photographic portraits feature people from the local communities, and celebrate their positive human qualities and the district’s distinctive cultural strengths and diversity.
